Exercise Rehabilitation

Retraining the body through movement

Recover from Injury

Exercise rehabilitation is an important part of recovery from pain and injury and a big part of what we do at to help you stay pain free and be at your best.

Exercise has been shown to be one of the most effective tools for improving health and reducing pain and disease. Following injury or pain, changes occur in connective tissues and the nervous system that can impair movement and recovery, and maintain pain long after initial healing has occurred.

Conditions Treated

We are able to help with a wide range of symptoms which have their roots in musculoskeletal issues. This includes back pain, neck pain, joint, muscle and nerve pains, and injuries including sports injuries or problems from lifting, driving, housework, etc.

We can also help with many chronic conditions such as sciatica, fibromyalgia and arthritis, and with headaches and migraines.

If you’re unsure whether we can help, book a free 15-minute telephone consultation and we’ll be more than happy to advise.

Your Programme

If you have had pain or are recovering from injury or surgery then an exercise programme should play an integral part in helping you to make a full and timely recovery. Our programmes are designed to your own specific needs to help you recover and get back to doing what you love.

Each person’s programme is specific to them. For some it may be as simple as one or two quick exercises to help you move better and with less pain, and for others may require a full in-depth programme to help develop the strength, coordination and mobility required for them return to high level sporting activity

Our Experience

Prior to becoming an Osteopath Gavin spent many years working as an exercise professional and specialising in helping people recover from pain. As well as sport rehabilitation he is also qualified in clinical Pilates and experienced in martial arts and sports giving him a deep knowledge of how the body moves and how to help guide you back to health through the combination of hands on treatment and exercise.

Your First Appointment

At your first appointment your osteopath will ask you about your symptoms, when and how you started to feel any pain, and examine any pain areas as well as your general body mechanics and alignment.

Your osteopath will normally be able to give you a diagnosis, explain how many sessions you are likely to need, and proceed to treatment immediately.

Osteopathy is a gentle and non-invasive therapy so you shouldn’t normally feel any pain during treatment. Your osteopath will explain the treatment they are giving you, and you will be able to discuss and ask any questions you have as you go along.
